Describe what has changed since your second post. (Setting, characters, plot, etc).
The book came to an end and it sad one. The father and son duo end of getting ambushed by a wife and husband and the dad gets cut in the ambush. The cut ends up getting effected causing the dad to slowly die off leaving the son on his own. Although there is a sorta happy ending, the son ends up finding a new family and stick with them at the end of the book. What similarities do you see to the world you live in today? Some people are forced to live with another family than their original like the son in this book his dad died off and he ended up having to find another family to live with. Much like real life where a kid loses his original family and ends up living with another family that adopted them. Compare a theme you see in the book to a theme you see in real life The theme was very lonely and much like someone who does not have a place to go home to and instead travels the world searching for a meaning, that sorta relates to the book considering the entire book the father and son are heading south looking for something to live for. What did you think of the book, in the end? The book was pretty depressing although the ending was very unique and was enjoyable. It was sad though when the dad died. Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why? I would definitively recommend this book considering the story, characters, setting etc was all great and its a great book. If you a fan of a descriptive dystonia book than the road is a great book for anyone to read I will comment on Mariah M. and Matthew M, Blog Post

Summary:
Nothing much has changed since the last blog post. The characters are the same although there is an increase in conflict. They actually find a large building with lots of activity going on once they find a locked door down in the basement. They decide to go back outside grab an axe to get through the basement door and hopefully scavenge for food. When they locate the basement they find a group of people killing others for food. In other words, mass cannibalism. This book reminds me of the movie lost. The movie lost is about the earth that got destroyed and taken over by other creatures, the world gets completely deformed causing them to be in a whole different world. There is a lot of similar scenarios in the movie as in this book. Such as the aspect of being lost and heading in one direction hoping for a reason to be alive. The cannibalism becoming a solution to all that is left of the human race. Similarities: This book relates with now a days in some ways that could be far fetched, though this book is based in a apocalyptic world. The government could be similar considering there is no government. Today, the government is breaking apart from corruption and different political views. Soon the government could fall apart if nobody finds a solution. In the book the government has fallen apart from complete chaos. The two main characters find themselves wandering around searching for resources to live. Well people who are considered homeless who have little to no pay sometimes find themselves wondering around in the unknown just trying to find enough food or water to survive. I am going to be commenting on Rickie S. Blog post and Mariah P. Blog post. Rickie S. : https://rsparks2020hightechhigh.weebly.com/blog Mariah P. : https://mperez2020.weebly.com/book-blog The Story so Far.... Summary
So far the road is about a father and his son on a journey throughout a destroyed apocalyptic world. They're current goal is to head south in order to avoid the winter and survive. Although they have met multiple other people trying to survive the winter they are the only two characters that stick to the story. The two main characters currently are Father and son, I don´t think we have gotten their name with what I have read so far, although I am only half way thought the book. The setting changes all the time (a forest, a large river, a abandoned gas station) whereas the main idea of the setting is a apocalyptic wasteland. This is the first dystopian book I have read. When people hear dystopian some people think of a large city with political corruption and ridiculous rules. This dystopian book is more unique in that sense because in this case there is no government or ridiculous rules, in fact, there are no rules and everyone is trying to survive. So far I have enjoyed everything about this book except for the fact that it is sometimes hard to see who is talking considering they don´t add in quotation marks or say this person said etc. Besides that it is a great read. Similarities The book does indeed take place on earth but there has been a cataclysm to the point where the earth is a complete wasteland. The book does not have a time period although the book was written in 2006 by the author Cormac McCarthy. I will comment on Mariah P. & Max M. Blog Post Links Mariah : https://mperez2020.weebly.com/book-blog Jeremy : https://jong2020.weebly.com/blog America's Three Bad Options in SyriaName of the Newspaper Source New York Times date of publication April 10, 2018 Name of article America's Three Bad Options in Syria Author of article Max Fisher Who is the article about, or who is the event about? (3 sentences) Recently there was a Chemical Bombing in Syria where the Syria government bombed their own people The Article is based on Syria. It talks about Chemical weapons are suspected to be found and being used in Syria. American's in Washington, responded with calls to do something against this. That means that punitive air strikes are once again in the picture for a weapon against the Syrian government. Summarize in your own words the current event. I honestly think this is a major issue in any way considering we are not in good terms with the Syria government. Something so dangerous could totally cause the direction of the war and head into a more destructive direction. War is already bad enough and once we start pulling out the "bigger guns" it is going to get worst and worst from there. This result can leave to millions of lives lost and many destroyed. In the article their many possibilities or the "options" that this can happen. This came up a while back while Mr. Obama was still president and one of his ideas was to make the war costlier for Mr. Assad. He would then proceed to arm government rebels, to pressure the Syrian leader into surrendering to American demands. Although there are problems with that plan because Mr. Assad's has Russia and Iranian on they side as allies. Where did this event happen? This event is happening mostly in Syria while the planning is going on elsewhere. Even though it has been a problem for years it is just now getting noticed and taking action. When did this event happen? The Chemical bombing happened in Dourma, a suburb of Damascus, on a Sunday, April 2018. Chemical control and solutions to it have been being discussed around 2013 (when another chemical bombing happened) for solutions to solve this problem. Why did this event happen? This event is happening because of the battle going on between countries. This has been brought up many times and should be finally discussed in a serious manner its main goal to bring an end or a roadblock to this problem. This event happened because of Syrian government had confirmed an air strike for their Ally's (Russia) to their rebel depot full of chemical munitions. This causing the chemicals to go off Syria's civilians in the suburbs this took place. A 14-year-old resident who was awake for the events told the New York Times that she saw the aircraft dropping a bomb into a one storey building which caused the explosion. Some people claim that bombs were dropped with chemicals inside of them. Many civilians required intensive care directly from the streets. Victims experienced defects including red eyes, foaming at the mouth. blue facial skin and many more. This event was truly terrible and was a bad move from the Syrian government. What is your opinion about this event? My opinion is that this needs to be dealt with an appropriate matter, and find a way to not cause any more damage than what has already happened. There are civilians at stake and we cant just bomb them and get it over with. There needs to be a more reliable method that can make it at least harder for these things to happen furthermore. Current Event Article Link www.nytimes.com/2018/04/10/world/middleeast/syria-us-chemical-weapons.html I will comment on Maxin M, Link: maxinm2020.weebly.com/english-blog Mariah P, Link: mperez2020.weebly.com/current-events Preparing for what could be a strange Oscars.Article found on New York Times. Published on March 2nd Name: California Today: Preparing for what could be an Unpredictable Oscars Author Brook Barnes and Matt Stevens This Current Event was based off of the Oscars and how unpredictable it can be for this year of the Oscars. The Article talks about how a strange statue of Mr. Weinstien sitting on a coach wearing a robe. This is strange because first of all it appeared out of no where and second of all many woman have came out to have being sexually assaulted by Mr. Weinstien. Which made the authors think how unpredictable the Oscars might be considering this was the first strange thing related to it has occurred. T he Awards could be contributed to sense of volatility. Being hosted by Jimmy Kimmel who is known for his outspokenness. Lots of drama is happening behind the scenes and in public about the Oscars. Such as the Anchor host Ryan Seacrest who anchors that network´s Oscar show and recently accused with sexual allegations. This is also the first Oscars with the #Me Too Time´s Up and #Never Again era. The Organizers say they want to keep the focus on the Movies although many stars disagree. They don´t want to go near any sexual misconduct and gender equality during the show but that has obviously changed. Last Thursday there was a strange statue that appeared labeled Casting Couch of Harvey Weinstien sitting on a couch with his around around the back of the coach and him wearing a robe. And since October woman have been coming out with sexual allegations against him. Which makes this one of the most weirdest or just complicated Oscars in awhile considering not much has happened in the last couple of Oscars. Where did this event Happen? This event occurred all over the world but mainly Los Angles, Hollywood. When did this event Happen? This statue of Mr. Weinstien appeared last Thursday before March and ever since October there has been many sexual allegations against him. Why did this event happen? The reason this event happened is unknown although I think it was made to show that the people of Hollywood know whats going on and they are trying to fix it and are not just ignoring it. Sexual allegations against Mr. Weinstien have been happening for awhile and they are starting to take it more seriously since the last time they touched bases with it. For the rest of the Article the reason many strange things have been happening is probably because of the gender equality problems happening for along time and woman in the movie industry has reached a all new low and they are trying to recover from it. Many strange this are going on before the Oscars and that is what this article is all about. What is your opinion on this event. My opinion is that these are very strange events that are going on although it shouldn't be made such a big deal about because its only a few strange events and non of them has mentioned the Oscars. This is also really good though that they are aware of whats going on in the movie industry currently with all of the sexual allegations and I´m glad they are trying to do something about it in the Oscars. Besides that though I am looking forward to the Oscars and what they have prepared. I am commenting on Mariah P. and Maxin M. Blog posts. Provide a brief update on the end of the book. She of course won the show. The book ends with Jane getting offered a job as a co-producer but she was not so sure about what she should do. She says she would think about it. The story ends with a monologue of Jane talking about what she has been though and past experiences and ends up going through different flash backs. Then having a conversation with DFS and the books end on some advice she received and something about herself. Now that you have finished the book, think about how the story might continue. I think she is going to end up taking the co-producer job than later moving on to her profession of physiology that she has been studying throughout her community college. She may still talk to the friends she made throughout the school maybe get back together with Robbie. She may move back in with her parents there are many possibilities. If you had to write a sequel, what would happen? I would create a sequel about her becoming a co-producer and them remaking the reality TV show but instead Jane is behind the camera and behind the control of the show. There would be new characters and new relationships and instead of focusing on Jane this time it would focus on some other main protagonist. They can make a bigger reward or even change the reality show house or maybe even make a different show concept like jeopardy. Would the main character stay the same? Why? What would the main conflict be in this sequel? The main character would probably stay the same but a little more mature considering this is based when she becomes older and continues with her producing job. The only difference is the show is not only based on her but someone else that is a participant throughout the show. The conflict could possibility be a problem with the show maybe a drama or a threat from one of the participants or someone that seeks revenge from the time she was a participant. Also, would you recommend the book you read to a friend? Why or why not? It really depends on what your into if you like drama and media arts than I think you would enjoy this book. I'm not a big fan of drama so It was kinda annoying at parts but for people who enjoy drama it would be a great book for you to read. It is a good book and if you don't care than you should definitely read it. Im going to comment on Mariah P. and Rachna Blog posts. Put yourself in the book Provide a brief update on the plot of the book so far. If you were in the book, which characters would you be friends with? Describe how you would interact in this story/world in detail. Who would you get along with? Who would you struggle to get along with? Why? Provide a brief update on the plot of the book so far. So far in the story a few more poeple have got eliminated from the house of orange and a lot of drama has begune to boil up thoughout the house and the community college in general. If you were in the book, which characters would you be friends with? If I had to choose any of the characters in the story so far to be friends with I would honestly be friends with the main character considering their humorous personality and like to poke fun at things and put alittle entertainment into things that may be boring or normal. Describe how you would interact in this story/world in detail If I was in this story / world I wouldnt really want to join a student made reality show. I would be more intrested in the post production side of how everything was being made. The "world" of the show is the same thing as the world we live on today there is no fantasy element to it so not much is to be said on the different things you can do in the world. Who would you get along with? Who would you struggle to get along with? Why? All the characters living in the house have very different personalities although I dont think I would get along with a lot of them except the main character and also Robbie (Jane's Friend) which is the sorta quite person of the house although he seems like the type of person that is up for anything. I dont think I would get along with most of the people in the house considering most of them are all about drama and stuff like that. I commented on Maxin M. and Rickie S. Week 2: Character Relationships Provide a brief update on the plot of the book so far. The web reality series has started off and is called House of Orange. The characters in the house are getting use to eachother and everyone is getting use to eachother. Relationship's are starting to develop over time, and Jane is doing decent in college besides the conflict between a school counsoler. Describe the relationships between different characters (at least 3). The main relationships that are developing at the time are with jane and someone else. The three characters that are many devolping relationships are Marc, Robbie, and Mr.Dubs. Marc seems to be Janes test dummy when it comes to pushing the limits on the show, and likes to annoy Marc in a lot of ways. Such as one time she threw a rock at his window to wake him up, then once he walked down stairs annoyed, she would ring the doorbell three times and run away. However Marc does not know that Jane is messing with her. The next relationship is Robbie and Robbie seems to be devolping as Jane's friend or maby something more. Mr.Dubs is Jane's school counsolar and Jane seems to be annoyed towards Mr.Dubs about the way he interacts or appears to her but somewhat likes him as a friend in a way. Do these characters have good relationships? What advice might you give to the main character regarding these relationships? I think these characters relationships are still developing but eventually are going to be intresting to see what more comes in the future. If I had to give the main character some advice I would say see how far you can take things with Marc and also keep being friends with Robbie. What (if any) impact does the relationships between characters have on the plot/events of the story? Characters such as Robbie could impact the plot/events of the story possibly becoming a love interest or just a best-friend kind of character where Mr.Dubs can start becoming more of a father or parent figure to Jane. I commented on Maxin M. and Rickie S. Week 1:
Predicting Provide a brief summary of the book so far. What do you know about your book after reading part one? What do you think will happen to the main character in the next section of your book? What else can you predict about this book, plot, and conflict? Do you like the book so far? Provide a brief summary of the book so far. What do you know about your book after reading part one? The book I am reading is called "nice try jane sinner" is about a highschool drop out that attends a community college to try and reinvent her career path and ends up finding a flyer for a reality show called house of orange where a few people participate in a college campus house. Its a reality tv except you get to learn about the production and post production behind the show which is why I picked up this book. What do you think will happen to the main character in the next section of your book? What else can you predict about this book, plot, and conflict? Do you like the book so far? I think that the main character will eventually get into the reality series but then regret their desicion and try to get out of it or stick though it and attempt to win it but eventually get eliminated. I hope what will happen is she ends up using the reality show to screw with the other participates because jane's personality is the kind that likes to mess with people for her own amusment. I think there is going to be a lot of conflict between Jane's parents and her point of view on what shes wants to do. I commented on Maxin M. and Rickie S. The name of the article was the "loneliest train station in England" and was published Jan 23, 2018, by Stephen Castle. The article covers about how the loneliest train station in England is a ghost station and has the least amount of transportation use out of all of the train stations in England. The train comes ones a week and comes around 2:00 pm to 3:00 pm. The event is in England where theres a lonely station that has a train that comes one a week. Recently in december the service was cut to one train a week and rail authorities will not agree to close the rail road to sybolize the dysfunctions of Britians tranportation network. The Teesside airport station is actually a hard station to find and is hidden bhind a airfield. The train station only contains two platforms a place to sit including a shelter, and a pay phone. Appreantly this station was used reguarely before the airport changed it name and the signs at the rail station were never updated. The train station has been made a "laughingstock" says a transport campaigner, Suzanne Foster. People have been trying to save the rail road and there is actually a Facebook page called "SAVE Teesside Airport". Closing the station could be complex and could be costly and could be way to much work. Some people have tried to close the rail station and perhaps move it to a new area closer to the terminal. Although that was rejected due to a claim that it wanted to run down the airport and sell it off for housing. This event took place in Teesside, England, and has recently been reported on in 2017 - 2018 but has been a issue for awhile. The airport used to be used frequently until a airport that ran the train station decided to change their name and never updated the train stations signs. The train station ended up being hidden behind a airfield and slowely forgotten about over the years. The station went from being used almost everyday to being used one a week by rail authorities and has became a laughingstock over the years. In my opinion I think they should keep this trian station running for the people and historical purposes aswell. If they ended up taking down the train station they could end up getting rid of peoples oppertunity to travel somewhere every week or possibly take away the train conductors jobs. The train station has also been a historical monument cosidering it was one of the first train stations in england and should be kept in one piece. Link to the Event
